Exceptional dog training is about much more than "basic obedience". It's more than dull compliance. It's about truly understanding dog behavior and turning theory into practice. How do I know? Because I have the education and experience you need. As a veterinarian, I have an intimate understanding of how dogs work. But before vet school, I was also mentored by the legendary Dr. Sophia Yin who taught me the importance of compassionate training and that "Positive is NOT permissive". Since then, I've buried myself into literature and learned everything science could teach me about dog behavior. I continually apply this in training, and I continually push my training by competing in dog sports. I've seen it. I've done it. From simple skills to advanced training, I can help your dog be exceptional!
As a Taiwan rescue, Alice didn't trust people and hated harnesses. Desensitization and counter conditioning helped her feel comfortable and excited about it all
Ivy was extremely reactive and dog-aggressive, and she bit multiple dogs. We trained her to develop exceptional emotional and self control
Narrated video: This fearful puppy shows how targeting can be used to build confidence and promote curiosity!
Yes, you can train relaxation! How? Mat training! It requires careful shaping, good criteria, and an expert eye to know when to raise challenges
Ivy was my inspiration and my "heart dog". She was extremely dog aggressive. I learned how to effectively manage and modify her behaviors and, eventually, nobody realized she had problems at all! Ivy trained in obedience & agility, and she even flew cross country with me 3 times!
Ipa is a uniquely fun and challenging dog. She is actively training in IGP (also known as: German Schutzhund, widely considered one of the most difficult dog sports in the world) . Through Ipa, I have learned the critical importance of reinforcement and clarity. Her titles: Rally Excellent, Trick Dog Advanced... and IGP1!!!
Alice is a typical fearful Formosan Mountain Dog (a village dog rescued directly from Taiwan). Despite her early nerves, we used games, challenges, and strategic reinforcement to build her confidence and engagement. Alice is now actively training in agility, and she earned her USDAA Starters Jumpers title. The first of many!
